A: FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions."

Q: How do I know if I need a hearing aid?
A: An audiological exam can help determine that.  At Nebraska Hearing Center, we offer complimentary hearing evaluations and consultations.

Q: How much does a hearing aid cost?
A: Hearing aids range in price from $800 to $3000 each.  The cost is determined by your hearing loss, lifestyle, and budget.  This information is discussed after the hearing evaluation at your complimentary consultation.

Q: What is an audiologist?
A: An audiologist has a Master's or Doctorate degree from a college or university.  Audiologists are licensed by the state to provide hearing and balance evaluations as well as dispense hearing aids. 

Q: What is hearing specialist?
A: A hearing specialist is licensed by the state to provide hearing evaluations and dispense hearing aids.  A hearing specialist may or may not have a college degree.

Q: Is there a trial period on your hearing aids?
A: Yes.  A 45 day trial period is included.

Q: What should I expect on my first visit?
A:  When you come in for your first visit: (The first visit will take 30-60minutes).
       1.  You will be greeted by our staff.
       2.  You will be asked to fill out some identifying paperwork (1 sheet).
       3.  You will be asked hearing history questions by our audiologist or hearing specialists.
       4.  Your ear canals will be inspected by our audiologist or hearing specialists using our video otoscope.  If you have excess wax, you will be referred to a physician to have it removed.
       5.  You will be given an audiological evaluation including Air Conduction Testing, Bone Conduction Testing, and
           Speech Testing.
       6.  We will discuss your test results with you and answer any questions you may have.  If you do not have a hearing loss, we will recommend a follow up test in 1 to 5 years depending on your age.  If you do have a hearing loss,
            we will proceed to step 7.
       7.  We will discuss your lifestyle, your hearing needs, and your budget for hearing aids.
       8.  We will discuss recommendations for amplification and perform a demonstration if necessary.
       9.  We will discuss prices.
      10. If you choose to purchase hearing aids, impressions will be taken of your hears (Approximately 5 minutes).
      11. We will go over paperwork and the purchase agreement.
      12.  We will answer any final questions.  You will be contacted by our office when your hearing aids come in, in
             approximately 1 week.
